About to ETS from the Army National Guard and want to join the Air Force (Active Duty). I know their are usual complications and policies when jumping from one branch to another. Can anyone shed some light on what issues I may encounter?

Yes, it would be best to contact an Air Force Recruiter.
Some issues you may encounter is losing a stripe. If your MOS doesn’t match to an AFSC you may have to change to a new AFSC and go to a tech school. If it does match up you may be able to get a waiver for the school and be awarded your 3 level. The Air Force has levels in each career field 1, 3, 5, 7 & 9 - beginner, apprentice, journeymen, craftsman and superintendent. Be prepared for a total different mentality and discipline. Good Luck!

Your beat bet is to contact your local recruiter. I am a Marine and going active army. I looked on rally point, up and down for these type of answer but your local air-force recruiter will have your answer or better assist you. Best of luck why dont u go active army?

I’m not about that Army life anymore. I’d rather be a POG in the relaxing Air Force. Honesty.

Ton of non combat jobs in the army. Id say keep your options open. Unless you want a completely new change of scenery. Bet of luck to you. SGT (Join to see)

They have a prior service quota that has already been filled this year. Talk to a recruiter about next year

Also sometimes they do not like taking NCO’S from the Army or the Corps. They are afraid they won’t adjust to the Air Force mentality and discipline.

Yes! This is the kind of advice I wanted because this is one of those curveballs I wouldn’t see coming.
