I became disabled 10 years after I was Honorably discharged from the NJ ARMY NATIONAL GAURD. It was because of a terrible motorcycle accident that almost killed me. I understand that I am not a disabled veteran. But, I would like to ask you if you know of any benefits that I could use?

That happened to my uncle. The VA does have a assistance program if you are really low income. You first step is contact the Veterans Services Officer in your County of Residence.

MAYBE!!! How many years AD do you have? Were you called up and served a full tour in a combat zone? You need 24 months AD to be eligible for VA Medical Care. You are also eligible VA Medical Care if you were called up for service and served for the entire call up tour in a combat zone. There is also the possibility that you could apply for a VA Pension but this is a very, very complicated program unless you are over age 60 which I assume you are not. But if you are totally disabled and receiving SS Disability Benefits you might be eligible. So go to DAV, American Legion, VFW or your state Veterans Service and let them help you. You have nothing to lose and everything to gain so go see one of these organizations and let them help you with the VA. Good luck.
