You’ll eat lunch 200 yards from the enemy.

My dad was stationed there. He said big rodents would eat the wires of your car. There are a lot of Iguanas. It sounded like a fisherman's paradise.

Banana Rats, which are related to the Capybara. My son just PCS'd back to the world from the post. Went down to visit when my grandson was born. The biggest downside I saw was that getting to the post or back was a total pain since the only chart flight in doesn't go there anymore and was very expensive, so Space A is the only way on and off the post. It means every leave you spend a week hoping not to get bumped off of the biweekly flights out.

Don’t call it a deployment, it’s just a hardship assignment. If you like the water and beaches you’ll enjoy it there. If you are active duty you will most likely go to the MP unit there. Like someone else said it’s garrison life with a twist. It’s something many people don’t get to do or go do. Worth going for a year.
