hello, I'm a new soldier, my mos is 42A and I want to reclass to 68R, I qualify for the ASVAB score for 68R, I have asked retention and they said I have to be in the in and out reenlistment list which my 42A need to be over strength and 68R need to be short strength, my question is what happened if this list shows 68R is always over strength or balance, that means I can never reclass into? and I also hear that I can get a waiver to reclass to other mos, it's that true, if so how can I get a waiver for reclass? and is 68R a good mos , what does this mos do ?

There is no waiver to reclass into an over strength MOS. Waivers are for when you don't meet the requirements like your grade or ASVAB. You need an exception to policy. Unless you are exceptional, you don't warrant the exception. If you are exceptional then your BDE CDR must sign your request, which HRC will deny because of MOS strengths.
68R is not a great MOS unless you want to be a good inspector when you grow up. The promotions are terrible and they have very few spots. Stay a 42A you can go anywhere and promotion potential is excellent

You are a 42A. Part of your job is researching this info for other Soldiers. Start with AR 614-200 and go from there. After learning how to find information for yourself you may find that one of the best ways to succeed as a 42A is the ability to find the answer!

You want to go into a MOS but don't know what they do? Odd. And if it's not a packet MOS and in and out calls don't favor what you're trying to do then it won't happen.
