Choosing between the USAR vs. ARNG: Which has an easier IST process?

May have to leave FL for work reasons and this question pondered my mind.

From my experience the USAR has easier IST process since everything is at federal level already. You can transfer to any reserve unit. With the guard you have to get a release from your current state in order to transfer to a different state. there are extra hoops to jump through with the guard.

SPC(P) Timeo Williams, I agree with LTC (Join to see)’s comments. I served in the FLARNG, the ALARNG and the USAR. The USAR was much easier overall. I transferred from Cincinnati to New Orleans to Oklahoma City to Nashville in the USAR. I went from TPU to TPU and never missed a drill, even as a field grade officer.

I'd say from experience you generally have more flexibility and wiggle room in the Reserves
