Father is arrested after he left his 2 year old in the car. Now, there is something just a little off about this story. The 5 year old either managed to get out himself OR got out and went inside when his father did. Either way, BOTH should've been aware that the younger kiddo was in the car. (No I am not saying the 5 year old is guilty of something, but I can see him making his father aware of the situation.)

Is this just BLATANT Murder or are there really these kind of "accidents?"
How can there be SO MANY "Accidents" regarding the same scenario?
"Any event that happens unexpectedly, without a deliberate plan or cause."

I can't remember one time where I shut my door to my car and said "OOpps, I'd better get my infant!"

Very sad. Happens all the time here in Florida also. I can't see, no matter how scatter brained, forgetting you have a baby in your car.

I have a mass in my brain, so I won't lie and say I remember everything. I don't. My daughter even asked me this morning if I were starting to forget things... (she's only 8) so it's becoming more evident. With that being said, I still do not think for ONE second that I'd conveniently FORGET my child or anyone else's in the car for more than 2 hours.

Disgusting, inexcusable that you'd chose a bottle of gin over your 2 year old child...it was in the 90's for Christ's sake! This is clearly manslaughter!

That's what I hate. But I get it can't be proven that he intentionally tried to do that. Although his picking up the alcohol and drinking it with the kids in the car in his care.... it's like the minute he decided he was going to drink is equalled to the minute someone decided to pull the trigger. I wish the law would change to at least 2nd degree murder.

Typically, to support a murder charge you need the culpability of "purposely or knowingly" did some action that would result in the death of another... "Recklessly or negligently" will not support a murder charge but will support manslaughter... (At least by NJ standards which aren't too far off from most states)

I work for the Children's Hospital here in Phoenix. His son was just the first of several we'll see this year. It's extremely disheartening.

I just can't imagine. I would LOVE to have a job like being a cop or EMT driver... but it's those incidents that I know if I see will haunt me for the rest of my life. Couldn't deal with it.

Yeah, I've talked to those guys, between this and drownings, no thanks. It does haunt them.
