After taking the ASVAB today and scoring decently (76), my recruiter suggested that I look into the various intelligence MOS's. Now, I'm not interested in staring at maps all day or solely analysis but counterintelligence did stand out to me. You have to be 20 to enlist as CI and since I'm only 17 at the moment, I was wondering if I'd be able to reenlist after my first contract as a 35L - Counterintelligence Agent.
If it is possible, I'd like to know if there's a good chance of it being able to actually happen. I understand that some stuff is possible on paper but rarely actually happens in the Army. Thanks!

You can’t reenlist for it, but you can apply for it once you meet all the prerequisites. There’s a very good selection rate for people who apply and you would very likely be accepted. Just make sure you have high line scores and you’re a good Soldier and capable of being granted a Top Secret clearance.

As previously stated it’s all about being recruited and doing your packet. I’m a former infantryman turned CI. Always do your best at everything you do. You’ll bring a unique perspective from the infantry to CI. Remember the packet is on you and the agent who recruits you doesn’t get anything out of it. You want to be CI you must be determined and driven at all steps.

From your question, I take it that you are a planner. Making plans and setting goals will help you throughout your life. No matter how good you plan, life happens, and that will force you to modify your plans, whether it is in the military or a civilian career. Good luck.
