Problem is, I carry Humana, but only because there is no premium that I have to pay. VA sees I have Humana and insists they get billed first, but VA does not pay secondary. Once Humana is billed, I am expected to pay the co-pays. VA said that that is the way it is because I have Humana. However, just because I have Humana, does not mean I can pay co-pays. So frustrating going thru this. Should I completely drop Humana so I have VA coverage? I am 66 and have Multiple Sclerosis and on my own?

Same with ER Transport in Las Vegas, Nevada. The VA here in Las Vegas, Nevada does not have a Trauma Center. I am a 100% disabled veteran, I was in an accident in July 2019, drunk driver hit me on the way to work in the morining, the ambulance that came to the scene could not transport me to the VA, paramedics said they didn't have a contract with the VA.

I got a bill for in the mail months later and the VA would not pay. I kept calling to see the status of the bill I submitted to the VA, they gave me an initial response that they didn't have the medical records, which was not true. I then called again about a month later and got an answer that they were reviewing the bill. They still would not pay, it had to come out of my personal car insurance, the person who hit me lied about having insurance and the person whose car he was driving supposedly did not have insurance coverage on the car either, but the California plates were not expired on the vehicle.

I called USAA customer service and talked to the representative regarding this issue, he said the same thing happened to him about the VA not paying for an ambulance transport for an accident that was not his fault. He called his state representative at the senate level, the VA refused to pay.

I finally found some obscured link to a page that has some kind of rule/policy months later that if you have an ambulance transport that is not to a VA facility, you have 72 hours to contact the billing department at the VA hospital.

This information was not given to me, I don't even remember how I had found this page on the VA Administration website. I had to keep doing research on the site, I had no prior knowledge of this when I did have my accident, had I known, I would have contacted them that following business day. This is so ethically wrong and so many bad issues with the VA to begin with.

Months later, I went to the VA ER at the North Las Vegas, Nevada VA hospital, got an MRI for a different medical issue, it was the very same MRI that the trauma center did on me back in July 2019 when I had the car accident, it had the same test results. I just see some fishy things going on here.

When the VA sent me to St Joseph's Medical Center in Tacoma because I had a heart , at the VA. They then refused to pay for the hospital or transportation from the VA in Tacoma WA even though the doctor in urgent care sent me. When I got to see the doctor in the WE at St. Joseph's Medical Center, the ER doctor gave me back the paperwork the VA sent with me and told me he didn't have time for "this crap", I then looked at what was in the big envelope the VA sent. It was just junk. Nicely packaged, but junk. It had nothing to do with why I was there. The ekg and everything had to be repeated at the ER. I was embarrassed because the VA was so inept.
