We recently had a post from a member that was claiming many things against military leadership doing their jobs and trying to convince Soldiers to stay in, he became quite disrespectful to many on the thread especially to those senior to him and was called on it. I have noticed not only the forum discussion is gone, but his profile no longer exists as well, this harkens back to another individual that was on here awhile back that did something similar, but she cut an ran herself after hitting most of her detractors with revenge downvotes numbering close to a hundred before departure.

Is this something that needs further addressing by the RP leadership or the RP community about policing our own when it comes to a discussion getting out of hand, should the person who is getting out of control be reported or just the thread, should their membership be questioned or revoked, should their retaliatory DVs be fixed, should the issue again be addressed that voting can only be done if a comment is attached to justify the vote, these are questions and concerns that have an effect on our community here at RP that I feel should be considered and looked at, do you agree or disagree with me, please comment and give valid reason on each if able, thanks to all that do their best to make this a viable and respectful tool for the AD SMs and an enjoyable outlet for us retiree/veterans who still enjoy helping and mentoring other when possible.

I say we need a form RP4856. Let's start building packets on these guys, then chapter them out.

the icon should be a file folder, and once it hits a certain number there shouldn't be a "promotion board" there should be an "eviction board"... can I be on the "eviction board" with you SSG Burns?

If we surrounded ourselves solely with those we agreed with, not only would things be stagnant, but we'd never learn. It would just become an environment where our opinions are perpetuated and reaffirmed in a constant cycle, with no actual learning taking place.

As obnoxious as some of those people are (I'm pretty sure I know exactly who you're talking about), we need dissenting opinions on here. It's only in critical analysis that any innovation and learning take place.

I agree that that guy was being a real turd nugget (pardon my french). I just see the occasional oaf as the price for relevant and varied conversation.

I think the worst possible thing that can happen to RP is that it becomes so formal and stuffy that logic and reason are overpowered by rank and "yes men".

I don't think we will get to that point, but I do feel that everyone should be respectful to one another as you would any normal setting where you would be face to face, many of the issues that we experience on RP is from people that are faceless and would never say some of the things they say if that person was actually standing in front of them. Even though this is a social site, it is still a site that is designed for mentoring, learning, assisting, and networking with seniors, veterans, retirees, and potential employers/employees and it should be done in a professional manner, not some of the mess I have seen on FB and the Army NCO Support page.

We all do a good job of maintaining that level, but I also don't want to have discussion that drive away some of our senior leaders and advisors that are on here to help, there have been many that have dropped off quite a bit in the last few months in activity compared to how they were in the fall and early winter, take for granted they could be involved in other projects or duties, but it could also be from the issue that have been arising in the last few months as well.

I have seen almost no activity from some of our favorite MSGs, CSM, and a few MAJs, LTCs, and even a GEN or two that used to be active, I am worried they may have taken a step back in an effort to distance themselves from the continuing increase in controversial topics and heated discussions, which would be bad for all the NCOs and Officers as well as veterans that could benefit from their leadership and mentoring that they can provide.

If we can't have productive professional discussions with out dragging each other through the mud, then how will this be any different than facebook?

We all were people before we had rank! Respect is paramount! The 'Golden Rule' may sound cliche, however it is one of the most universal values that reaches virtually ever corner of the globe!

I think the comment being mandatory for a down vote would be fantastic. The fact that you get 30 points off for being down voted is rather serious for this forum, and there really should be a reason why your comment was down voted. I would never down vote anyone because I simply disagreed with something someone said, only if it was derogatory or in bad taste.
