hey so there trying to put me on it for 80 days. But what about my clearing and all other appointments. Theyre like you'll have to reschedule. Can they do that and if not who do I talk to? Already asked leadership they dont care at all... shocker

Most gate guard details leave ample time for other appointments. They are usually 8 hour days that are not overlapping the entire "standard duty day" so you will be able to make appointments either before or after duty. Or they are some variation of 12 hour days that give a duty day or two off, allowing for those days to have appointments.

The onus is on YOU to make those appointments happen and schedule around the mission, not for your PSG to schedule the mission around your appointments.
Can your PSG assign a Soldier to a required detail? Absolutely. Even if the Soldier is about to ETS? ESPECIALLY then - keep the Soldiers who are sticking around focused on training for the next mission, and let those who won't be in the Army for the next mission continue to contribute to the team by taking care of all of the training distractors.

You were able - and required- to start SFLTAP over a year out from ETS. You get two weeks to clear, plus you can take your ETS leave. All you’ve indicated to your leadership is that if you haven’t started STLTAP then you don’t care about it. So, transition leave days plus 10 days clearing and the rest you will be available for duty

if you are out processing those appointments are your primary duty. If your leadership doesn't understand that then you need to elevate it up the chain. PSG/PL, 1SG/CO, CSM and if that doesn't work go talk to the IG.

That is a true point. Just didn’t want this kid to continuously keep getting screwed over for the next 3 months. What happens down on the ground when officers aren’t watching is a completely different ball game. Say he comes to you for help and you have your trusty 1SG in there with you.. the moment he walks out he’s on a mission IF he didn’t know about it first. You not knowing or just being a good LTC are willing to help but boy What happens when those hatches close after that conversation is completely out of your hands or sight. So jumping chain I would never recommend but finding the correct NCO or Staff ie not an E-8 or E-9 to help could also go a long way. But we must ask ourselves why is this soldier being treated like this...constant appointments? Griping about not wanting to do a detail for 80 days? Hmmm..... LTC (Join to see)

Sgt Jordan Foster - 80 days out is a little early to be having out processing appointments, unless he is going through an MRB/MEB. And he's obviously done something to piss someone off if they're sticking him on gate guard for 80 days.

LTC (Join to see) At my last unit before retirement (3 years ago) gate guard was a 6 month duty, with an additional 45 days of train up. 80 days is nothing.

SFC Casey O'Mally - and it's not like gate guard is a hard duty. I've done way worse for far longer than 80 days over the course of my career.
