Have you ever created your own military cadence ? Did you use it? Was it a blend of an existing one or was it a total original ? Care to share a few lines of it here ?

So...
Why do Marines only count to 4 in their cadence calls?

Because they are unsure as to what come next

I did, but that was when we had scars on our knuckles and didn't have to look over our shoulder......or be 4 miles out from base.

Yes, I did. I was put on the spot on a battalion run. Having never called cadence at the time, I froze up. It's crazy how you can yell cadence all day in formation. But when you are leading a cadence, it all disappears. So, instead of trying to remember one of the many cadences we called every day, I just made a cadence out of a song I knew. Little did I know, everyone liked it because it was "new" and it broke the monotony.

That was the thing to do during basic. Many of the BMTS squadrons that were in our areas all had flights that had a bunch of 'em. We had three or four.

I normally create a new cadence on the spot of which is one of many talents I have that has not helped or hindered my career.
