For prior service, is it possible to re-enlist into a 153A contract?? or do I HAVE to be actively in the RA , NG, or USAR?

You could enlist via a local USAREC Battalion into the WOFT program. It is still a selection process. The army put out a memorandum on June 3rd it is now a 10 year adso.

No, you must apply via a street to seat packet. You can’t just waltz into becoming a warrant officer.

Keep in mind, if you don’t get selected, which the likelihood of you being selected street to seat is slim, you don’t get a contract.

If you were RA, NG, or USAR, the process is still the same, however, if you don’t get selected, you remain in your current field.

I suspect that once you are selected, if you wash out you will still be in the Army. It was a tough school 50 years ago even when it was a guarantee of 2 years in Nam, in a potentially fatal job. My class started with 206 candidates and graduated 62. Some of the first to go were NCOs who could not accept the harassment and expected more respect.
