Higher standards for Reservist/Veteran than Civilian counterpart?

Recently I have heard a lot of fellow Veterans and Reservists friends that I work with make comments on how they feel that they are being held to a high standard then our civilian counterparts by a Supervisor that is prior military.

Although I think that we should hold ourselves personally to a higher standard with the same honor and integrity as we have had instilled with us from some great leaders. I don't find that in a job we should be held to any higher of a standard then our other Team Members that are civilian. I have heard from multiple people that they are getting talked to about how they stand on post or the appearance of their uniform. Our uniforms are maintained by the Wardrobe department and we are not allowed to launder them ourselves or press them and have sometimes come back with double creases. We are also not allowed to wear our own pants where some of our civilian counterparts have been given the OK to supply their own.

This may be one sided and I'm not seeing the full picture but what I have seen personally makes you wonder.

I get that we are a Security Department and we should not be lax, but a lot of our civilian counterparts are those that hold degrees in law enforcement and are just waiting their time until they find a "cop" job so shouldn't we all be held to the same professional standard?

Ultimately my question is do you think it's fair and how do handle a situation such as this?
