SGT Bowe Bergdahl is still out there somewhere in the hands of the Haqqani Network.  While attention was brought to a select servicemember who showed uncharacteristic disrespect to the symbol of POW-MIA Remembrance, I feel more attention needs to be brought to our POW still being held somewhere in Pakistan by the Haqqani Network.  Is a prisoner exchange a good idea though?  Obviously I don't know all the details but it seems like all other options at rescue or release have been exhausted.  Whatever happens, we cannot leave him behind.

Regardless of the circumstances of his disappearance, he is an American, a POW, and he needs to come home. This exchange should be a pre-requisite for our departure from Afghanistan.

I kind of like the idea of an exchange being a pre-requisie for our departure.  The fact that a time table has already been set puts a lot more pressure on our negotiators and makes their job a bit more difficult I would think.

I like it - it should be a pre requisite to our departure.

Don't worry SGT Mason!  It is an important topic and very worthy of thoughtful discussion.  I am a bit worried about the potential "can-of-worms" from "negotiations/discussions" with terrorists, but I agree that we must do what we can to get our POW returned safely.  Glad to know it was on your mind too!

If all options have been exhausted it doesn't seem like there is much of a choice. With that being said, I've read some of the comments to the article and some seem to think that he ins't worthy of the trade because he walked off the post by choice. I don't know all the details, but it's time to get this Soldier home. It's been long overdue.
