I was trying to figure a way to answer the question. I was also raised by "hand". I do not condone this behavior in any way. However, we are all products of of core values and beliefs. So the fact is that AP spanked his child. Where did he learn this from? His parents and up bringing. Although I was raised in a similar fashion and choose not to raise my child the same as my upbringing. That was my choice.

I feel that he has paid his dues and should be able to play football.

Great response. One of the best actually; states away from bias.

I recall the days when part of the discipline was selecting the switch.

I have to disagree. If I emotionally neglect my child, should I be punished also? You have to draw lines between work and home. The NFL could have let the court handle that one. Court sees that he is not fit to even SEE his child, then so be it. Also, I do not believe one should ever compare murder and child abuse; two COMPLETELY different violations, and are delt with as such. Lastly, the supplement are in COMPLETE violation of game rules; should it be that way is an argument for another post.
