I already swore in and now I’m currently waiting to go to bootcamp June 16th the only problem is I have a pending court case that keeps getting delayed because of the pandemic. The case isn’t serious and is going to result in community service or fines and all parties are willing to let me go then give me my punishment. Would I still be able to go since it isn’t serious?

You can not ship with any pending legal case regardless of the expected outcome. You must notify your recruiter and they will have to delay your ship date until after the court case and punishment has been given.

What has your recruiter said about it? Did you disclose this information when you swore in?

Talk to the judge, tell them your story and go to basic training, Marines have Boot Camp.

A1C (Join to see) - No. It must be resolved PRIOR to you shipping for basic. It cannot be pending or on hold or anything else. There has to be an adjudication on the matter and it needs to be closed and cleared even if that means your "sentence" is on hold until you return.

A1C (Join to see) - What I would do if I were you, would be get in contact with my recruiter ASAP and if the court and DA are as willing as you say to work this out, then get that all done on paper and signed. The judge has the power to wave any kind of in person need etc and handle this all administratively. Key thing is talking to people and making them understand what is going on. You would be surprised what can and will happen. Just go that distance, keep a good attitude and try. At worst you have to push your basic dates back. Use the time to get further in shape and keep your nose clean.

Good luck.
