I graduated flight school in 1973 and when I was at Fort Wolters, Texas we flew the TH-55 to solo.

As far as solos go, students get two chances to solo. Once during "contact" phase after their first checkride doing a traffic pattern to full stop, and the other after Basic Warfighter Skills checkride doing a cross country flight to another airport (usually Troy).

Yea, all Single engine aircraft (TH-67/OH-58s) have gone the way of the dodo. All flight training at Rucker will now be completed using the Dual Engine Lakotas
