(The above photo was taken in August 1969, Dong Ha Valley, Quang Tri Province, S Vietnam, Route 1 heading North towards the DMZ and into N Vietnam!)
This is really sobering. First click on a state. When it opens, scroll down to the city where you went to high school and look at the names. Click on the name and it will give details of the person's death, a picture or at
least their bio and medals.
This really is an amazing web site. Someone spent a lot of time and effort to create it.
I hope that everyone who receives this appreciates what
those who served in Vietnam sacrificed for our country.
Pass the link on to others, as many knew wonderful
people whose names are listed.

I have accessed and utilized the Virtual Wall many times, Sgt David G Duchesneau. There are many that I look for, but 1LT Thomas Gary Sikes is the memorial that draws me back most often.
Here's your photo, dressed up a little bit.

Thanks for sharing this link, Sgt David G Duchesneau. I looked for my very small upstate New York hometown and found one man from my hometown who is on the wall.

He died when I was just nine years old. This is the kind of small town where just about everybody knows everybody. The Kissingers are well known in town. There was a Kissinger in my high school graduating class, but I don't remember Ronald Kissinger dying in Vietnam.
The same can be said for surrounding towns/cities in the vicinity of where I lived. Some are a little bigger, but it really does hit home. As you said, it's sobering.

I know exactly what you mean. I too came from a small Town and we lost three to that damn War and I knew all three of them. God Bless their families and may they forever rest in peace! SF!

I have used the Virtual Wall for many years. I have four memorials for four friends who are on the Wall. The memorials can be updated but the web site owners are so busy, they can't take anymore changes until they get caught up. I've had success with two of my memorials. One is being contacted by a family member of a vet I served with in Vietnam. I have looked for a relative of him for years. She stumbled upon my memorial and contacted me. We are close like family now. She is the only living relative of him. The other is an MIA that graduated from high school with my wife. I have worn his bracelet since they came out in the 70's. Two months ago his sister, who I have stayed in contact with and also knows my wife, told my wife the remains of him and his helicopter crew has been found and identified by the tail number on the crashed chopper. He and his crew have been missing since 1969. They are in Hawaii having DNA run on the bones for positive identification of each crew member. If you served with someone on the Wall, and want to leave a memorial, and are possibly interested in contacting a family member, this is the best way.
