How will my AIT be different when I go back to training because of the Split Option Program? My MOS is 19D and I am soon returning to Fort Benning for AIT. How will AIT differ from Basic Training, and what will be different because of the year-long wait?

In 1997 I returned to the Same Company, Same Platoon, Same DS for AIT that I left in 1996 for Basic.

1. It is Advanced Tng- learning specifics in the 19D course, the mechanics and details. Little more freedom, but not much. Your unit shou;d be in touch with the school, and have a packing list for you.

Really won’t be all that different. Had one guy and he got treated about the same as we did. Definitely depends on your MOS and chain of command. Best of luck though!!

Should have read closer and noticed you’re a 19D so you’re going to Fort Benning and that’s a totally different ball park
