Ive been in for almost 2 years now, proud of everyday served. however I wanted to be deployed more than anything, for a variety of complex reasons. How can I go about getting deployed? Im a deployment volunteer on my SRB, ive told my leadership time and time again that I will do anything required to do it and they just brush me off. I dont want to get out if the Army wishing I deployed. for reference im in the 44th Medical Brigade, Fort Bragg. Im proficient in my job, physically fit, eager to learn and be as helpful as possible, any help? thanks in advanced!

Be careful what you ask for. Your time will come and it won’t discriminate. You state for many complex reasons, which is concerning. The idea of deployment is not complex, you train , your ready, you deploy. War is honorable, but not sexy. So I will not patronize you, your time will come. Stay fit, stay trained, stay ready.

Here's the thing. The current effort in Afghanistan is winding down. The majority of units still involved are in either security or training missions. I don't know what the deployment cycle is for the 18th and have no idea if your unit would be called upon to serve in the medical support role. As far as you being cherry picked for a deployment...I have to be honest and say that at your rank you just don't have the kind of experience needed yet. Even SFAB units are looking for at least a promotable specialist to even be considered for the assessment process.
