What are your thoughts about active Boy Scout and Girl Scout troops being based on military posts?

I was assigned to a base that had a scouts program. The leadership was a nice blend of military members and adult dependents. This prevented the potential for no leadership being available due to deployments.
Depending on the size and type of the base, there might even be room for additional youth-oriented programs like the Naval Sea Cadets, the Young Marines or the Civil Air Patrol cadet program. One thing that I do agree with GySgt Joe Strong is that if these programs are available off base and close by, those groups would definitely appreciate the additional members and adult help. I personally am involved with the Pathfinder Club, a world wide scouting program associated with the Seventh-day Adventist Church that rivals the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts.

Well, the only issues I can think of are potential public accommodation issues or if all the adult leaders were deployed at the same time.
Other than that there are probably Troops outside most major bases that would happily welcome both the Adult help and the influx of boys.

Sounds like a good idea to me, CH (MAJ) William Beaver. I was a Boy Scout and I enjoyed my time in the BSA.
