Military CBRN masks should only be used when authorized and personnel must be properly trained in the fit and use of these masks or risk exposure. With that training, based on CDC guidelines, military mask systems WILL prevent inhalation of the coronavirus. These masks can be sanitized in accordance with the military technical manual. While the mask facepiece can be sanitized and reused, the filters must be disposed of and replaced after exposure. Filters should be replaced after 24 hours of continuous operation or anytime leaving the contaminated area.

I was informed that for 19 Virus the filters are good until it affects breathing.

I don't know the latest guidance. Virus particles will stay in the filters, but without host cells, likely "die" after several days.
Being good until breathing is effected is subjective. My guidance : regardless of the reason for changing filters, treat them as contaminated biohazard and dispose according to DRMO guidelines. AMEDD may also have some thoughts on this.
