I am currently in the AGR program and have accepted another AGR position in another state. My IST is complete and has been reviewed by NGB but my current state is telling me I must resign from AGR before they will amend my orders and release me to be moved to My new state, i am concerned that resigning my current position could open the door for things being overlooked and I end up with a break in service, missed pay, and lost benefits for my family, help?

Did this last month. So your end date where you are at needs to be the day before you start the new orders. Took two mo the of back and forth, NGB got involved. Both commands were fine with the transfers, it was AGR HRO that was the issue. Best of luck. By the way, they accidentally discharged me a week early but the gaining state came through and picked me up the day after. No break in service. This was NJ to NY

If I may ask, how did you even start this process of an IST as an AGR? I want to IST, but I’ve been told that as an AGR it’s nearly impossible.

Yes, you do have to be REFRAD before your losing state can drop you.
The gaining state can pick you up as a new gain and put you on AGR the following day, and all the paperwork can process accordingly and you may still be dropped from Tricare even though you had no break in AGR.
Your gaining G1 will have to make that manual correction for Tricare through DMDC.
