CPT (Join to see), here's the Great Pyramid of Khufu, Giza, Egypt, AUG87. The photo was taken while participating in Operation Bright Star '87. The Egyptian riding the camel wanted to be paid for being in the photograph!

And yes, I remember the multiple Chow halls due to the size of the Tent city at Cairo West. They shut our portion of tent city down towards the end of the Exercise and kicked us out to the City awaiting our egress flight.

Well, GySgt Joe Strong, you saw this was Bright Star '87. Even then, the Air Force and Navy had airconditioned operations tents! Not the Army, though! We kept going back and forth to the Air Force and Navy tents to keep cool until they figured out we had no business there and threw us out!

LTC Stephen Curlee , I had the good fortune to be travelling in the JCSE traveling roadshow.
90 days of Comms for whatever JTF is standing up in whatever God-forsaken hole they were standing it up in.
It was a tremendous job and a wonderful opportunity to see the world. Given some of the places they put us, I just completely soaked in the whole Forte Grand experience.
However, we had also wound up in some of the double walled airconditioned via plenum tents at Cairo West... when the goody man shows up, you take it when it's available... :)

Bright Star "85" and I won a night on the town in Cairo! This is from the Balcony of my Hotel Room. I also flew to Amman, Jordan twice while in Egypt.

Thanks to the Military, I saw the World through the eyes of Ho Chi Minh! Dong Ha Valley Route 1 leading towards the DMZ. USMC B1/3 SF! By the way, we humped that entire area. no choppers except for medivacs, all just boots on the ground, good old shoe leather express. From the top of Dang Ha Mountain to the DMZ and beyond!

Aside from Mount Sinai (I have no photo's), it would be Uday and Qusay's old place... known as Site 2 at the time...

I have been to Uday's and Qusay's last place. We went by the next day. It needed a few repairs.

My unit set up shop there as well, old Gunny of ours had us grab small pieces of brick as a memento before we all pissed on it.
