So I was on Instagram, searching pictures and I looked for the #ArmyStrong, for my surprise I found a lot of pictures of Soldiers using their PT Shirts as muscles shirts. I commented in a few asking if we were allowed, my comments were erased. They were SM, I saw pictures of them with their ACU's, out of all the shirts that you could cut and make a Muscle shirt, why would you use your PT's?

I look at it like this, as long as they aren't trying to wear it IN uniform, it is ok...I don't have to like it, but it is ok. Another example, how many folks do you see wearing ACU/DCU/BDU/ABU/OCP/etc pants for mowing the lawn, cut off in to shorts, hiking gear, etc.

TSgt Joshua Copeland I do like muscle shirts, actually I use them, just not out of a PT shirt. I've seen just like 2 people using ACU's pants for mechanics is not something I see often.

Actually wearing ACU is for work around the house is not authorized since it's a uniform still in service. BDU and DCU is aokay since they have a wear out date and are no longer a "uniform".
On the other hand, like you said MSgt if they do it at home and not at morning formation who cares, ACU pants once unserviceable area still good for work around the house, car etc.

SGT (Join to see) then, the PTs wear-out date is until Sept 2017, they shouldn't be authorized to use them since they are still in service as well. Am I wrong?

Like I said it isn't really that clear cut and dry, you are supposed to maintain a certain number of PT uniform's. So if you have that set number of serviceable uniforms it doesnt really matter what you do with the rest.
But like it SSG Danual Hays and MSgt Joshua Copeland said before as long as you don't wear it "in formation" or run around on post wearing it you should be fine.

I do not see nothing wrong with it if they're unserviceble and they have replace them with new ones. Also we are transitioning to the new pt uniform so they might have retire their old ones, like me.

I know that APFU is still in service but once it is torn, rip, faded or too stain technically speaking you can't use it as part of the APFU. However, by reg you can use it as civilian attire. I know it does not make no sense but half of the rules in the Army don't make any sense.

Note: Just use personal discretion when during stuff like this. On Instagram it's okay to do this, some people are just proud of the Army "SWAG" or service and want to show it in their unique way. I wouldn't do it, but that's me.

1SG (Join to see) I'm the kind of person if I have to think twice something, or even if it pass through my mind it could be wrong, I rather don't. There's always a $5 and below near post to get cheap shirts and make them muscle shirts.

I just recently made a pair of ACU pants into shorts due to them being un-serviceable due to me having to get them cut so i could them over a cast..won't be wearing it on-post or anything concerning official business.

Fair comment! What you wear around the house is one thing, but in formation you keep your act clean! Why is this important? I can think of a few right off the cuff: 1) We should always aim to do the right thing, and therefore we do not modify our uniforms, 2) We should not act our rank but the next rank up, if a promotion is what you are after.....act the rank you want to be, and 3) loose regulation enforcement is like the flu, it spreads quickly. If you are not careful everyone will be doing mods to their PT uniform. We are all different, but we are also all the same. Unity!!!!!
