I wanted to let the RallyPoint community know about our latest partnership and mission to bring employers closer to our transitioning members. This week, we launched an initiative with Time Warner Cable & Take the Interview to bring free virtual interviews to all of our members. Beyond the important networking here inside of RallyPoint, I see this as being a great way to send your resume and profile to the top of the list through the use of technology. No job fairs, gas money, or plane tickets needed...just direct access to the veteran hiring team. We are very excited for this launch and to bring this service to more of our veteran hiring partners in the future.
With 100+ RallyPoint veterans, TWC has built an excellent internal network of veteran support here inside the platform and I hope many of us can take advantage of their wide ranging career opportunities. Good luck and please tag any job seekers you may know here.
Cheers,
Brandon

This IS the way of the future. I had a virtual interview with the Navy's mental health team in Okinawa. They were kind enough to show me the view from their window. Very cool.

Awesome Mark! Glad you had a chance to interview with that team. I know it's in line with the location and kind of work you are passionate about. So the real question is, how was the view??

I didn't get the job, but as long as our service members get the best care I can't be upset. Okinawa is gorgeous! No tsunamis, no earthquakes, no winter, but the humidity is EVIL. I'll wait till winter to visit.

You are one of those rare inverse snowbirds SFC Mark Merino. We always knew you marched to the beat of your own drum! :)

Thay are starting to head back to Canada as we speak. The drive time gets cut by 2/3 in the summer!

Thanks Capt Brandon Charters and the RallyPoint Staff, we appreciate your willingess to dive into new ideas.
Time Warner Cable is trying to figure out the connection points between the highly qualified Veteran workforce and our myriad of openings across the United States. Available to view on RallyPoints Careers section.
We wanted to be able to address those members who aren't residing in their targeted work locations and give them an avenue to start networking with us. So, someone who is starting their transition and is stationed in a geography that is not their ideal work location can look at our openings and begin to open doors for themselves; as they look ahead to the future and figure out employment prospects.
Further, we don't think a massive job fair is the most effective way to get to know individuals who are service members. Yes, it is the most cost/time effective in terms of the many to many relationships of job seekers and employers, but we wanted another avenue to offer in case veterans feel more at home, in the comfort of their own home. Thus, our partnership with Take the Interview and RallyPoint was started.
We understand that by some estimates there will be up to 1.7 million transitioning members within the next 7 years. It is imperative to TWC to understand what we can do to capture the best veteran talent and leveraging the incredible skill sets that they bring to the workplace.
I'd appreciate any feedback you may have. This will help all of the dedicated employers on RP and let us evolve this idea to meet the needs of our Veteran candidates in the future.
Thanks,
Joe Wong
