I was going national guard being attached to a FA bn but that didn't pan out after all. :( However a different slot that opened up is a 35f reserve spot with the 304th psyop in Sacramento. Anyone have info on this?

You'll be doing the paperwork to maintain the security clearances for the unit. RTOs need secret for the COMSEC, CSMs and Field Grades need TS. Sometimes you and the LT/CPT might even get to do some "Intelligence Preparation of the Battlefield" i.e. set up the sand table with the miniatures to discuss courses of action at staff meetings.

Welcome to the life of Staff. Shouldn't be anything you can't handle two days a month, two weeks a year.

Thanks sir. Honestly don't mind staff as I feel like I could be utilized more in there. I've used my body enough with combat arms. Now it's time to use my brain.

They are a stand up group of Soldiers.  At least they were when I worked with them some years back supporting them from another unit.  When I used to drill there as a reservist they were some of the most deployed Soldiers in the area.  But my suggestion is the same as what most everyone else here has said.  Check with the unit and see what they have in mind for you.  Do not expect anything sexy.  After all, it is Sacramento.  If you're from there, you know.  If not, you'll find out.  Also, try to get in contact with your sponsor ahead of time to in process.  It is notoriously a pain to get in the gate there and nobody ever answers the phone, let alone knows how to open the damn thing.

I'm from the area that is why I chose it. I knew they were deployed more than others to a degree which is ok. Their deployments are shorter which is nice. I tried contacting the few ppl that are in the unit via message but no one seems to be active. I will just have to call I guess. I'm excited for the experience but also like to know a little about what they actually do. Reserve/guard is obviously something I know little about but it's something I feel will help me in the long run.
