When will I (spouse) be allowed to be enrolled in DEERS as well as receive TRICARE benefits?

My husband is joining the army and leaving for basic in a couple weeks. I grew up an Army brat and lost my insurance recently. I have medications that I need and just wanted to know how long I need to hold on for until I can get insurance again.

This should either be done at MEPS before leaving for basic or one of the first things at basic. Make sure yiur husband has all of your pertinent data (SSN, DOB, address).

correct. In addition to SSN, DOB, address etc, he will need a copy of your marriage license/certificate. This should be done at MEPS and it will probably take a week or so to get processed.
