Verde Valley Az – 3/29
Huge VVets motorcycle ride from Sedona down to Clarkdale for free food and music .. only marginally interrupted by politicos telling us how great they were.
Fell into chow line behind a guy with a Currahee ball cap and had a nice time talking about how C-47s didn’t like paratroopers.
Flag raising @ 13:00 with a good bugler.
Tents up from the VA, VFW, AL, CAP and of course the Marine Association.
Good time had by all

I like this: We are enjoined "to show all who have worn the uniform of the United States the respect and dignity they deserve, and to honor their sacrifice by serving them as well as they served us."

Presidential Proclamation -- Vietnam Veterans Day
On January 12, 1962, United States Army pilots lifted more than 1,000 South Vietnamese service members over jungle and underbrush to capture a National Liberation Front stronghold near Saigon. Operation Chopper marked America's first combat mission against the Viet Cong, and the beginning of one of our longest and most challenging wars.
