Interesting read. I'm wondering if this changes how dangerous you view ISIS? The article points out some interesting differences between Al Qaeda recruiting and propaganda tactics and how ISIS does things. I feel at times we can underestimate a threat if we view their methods as barbaric and radical.

Note: The article doesn't necessarily reflect how I view things. Just thought it would be a decent discussion topic that's different from ISIS is bad, look at what they did now. I think it's important to properly understand the motivation and techniques of your enemy, and maybe this sheds some light into that.

It's hard to qualify success without numbers of recruits.

Hate to say it, but it is a smart way for them to get their message out globally and very quickly.

CSM Michael J. Uhlig, I agree with you on this point CSM. I think something else interesting that it touched on briefly is that a consequence of not differentiating well between who is radical and who isn't has been exploited in a way many people don't realize. I don't know if that is completely true, but I think it's definitely worth looking into further.
