My ship day is on May 3rd, RECSTA day says May 9th, and my school date starts on May 16th.

I am prior service don’t have to go back to basic I asked my recruiter he said he didn’t know I’d just have to find out when I report to MEPS. Could anyone help me out with understanding this

ugh... of course I did I didn’t want a definition of reception date. I wanted to know why my reception date was a week after my ship date and what I would be doing for an entire week...

I thought it was implied... smh

SPC Devin Young - Your question in bold letters is. " What does RECSTA mean on my reservation orders from MEPS?"

I was told by my recruiter it means you are in hold over until you basic class has enough people (which it will)

I'm just speculating, but I would imagine that you have a week in reception to get administratively correct, ensure your clothing bag is complete, and go through medical.
