It's the Commander's and 1SGs program. If their policy is to have Soldiers enrolled in Remedial for a failed Diagnostic...then said SM will be on Remedial. It's not punishment. It's to encourage and assist the SM to work on, and improve in, their failed area(s).

PFC Jeffrey Herrington - Well...clearly normal PRT isn't working and PRT on their own isn't working (or being done), either. So....Remedial it is.

There’s a lot of people who use tools to help/assist as punishment( ex remedial and corrective action for a counseling).The focus in remedial should be form not someone having you doing all of the push ups or sit-ups

SPC (Join to see) which is a big part of the problem. I was on remedial at my first unit as a pvt. I vowed never again and that's all they focused. It didnt help me personally. But this SM is already doing extra PT on their own and even has an NCO helping them.

This Soldier should "want" to do remedial PT if failing a diagnostic. As an NCO, if any of my Soldiers were even close to failing I would do remedial PT with that Soldier myself. It seems that you may be looking at this as some sort of punishment, when its not. Its just trying to help that Soldier improve themselves and their career. While PT is an individual sport, some Soldiers do not take care of this on their own and need a guiding hand.

CPT Lawrence Cable - Exactly sir, and what did it do? It kept me engaged with my Soldiers and ensure my PT wasnt slipping either.

MSG (Join to see) - It's the reason that I made myself show up for Platoon level PT as a PL and Company level PT as the CO. I seldom lead it, but I went through everything that they did. I always picked a grader outside of the headquarters element at the APFT, just to make sure there was no questions. I generally scored better than about 95 percent of my company anyway.

You mean an NCO is doing this thing called "leadership" and helping out their Soldiers get better at an identified deficiency... The Audacity! The Horror!
Too many times it seems that they place blame/cry over having to do extra PT, or being called out for requiring more PT. When the SM should look at themselves and realize they let themselves fail an APFT and obviously that lack of care/motivation/drive (likely) trickles into other aspects of their life/work.
