Wife got orders for Humphreys South Korea. We are doing a CSP tour. Just want to know what to expect and any tips on making the PCS a bit easier. Travel, housing, daycare, internet and cellphone, on or off post housing. All info will greatly help.

Make sure to book lodging in advance to ensure you’re in a hotel on base. You have to go through on base housing first to receive housing, it doesn’t matter if it’s on or off post. You cannot go on your own without going through housing to fine a place to live. If you do, you probably won’t receive your OHA especially if housing is available on base. If there is housing available on base you will not be able to live off base, however, the housing on base is really nice. I don’t recommend you bringing your own vehicle due to how crazy they drive over in Korea. You have only a 30-40% chance of not having your vehicle hit even while parked. It’s really easy and inexpensive to purchase a used vehicle while you are there and then sale it before you leave.
Cable is really inexpensive at Humphreys.
Are you still in the Army? Do you have children? There are two ways to do your tour based upon your status. If you’re trying to do a command sponsored tour start on your EFMP (overseas screening) now!!! This is what causes the most delays because the family will not be issues orders to depart at the same time the Soldier departs if it is not completed and approved. Wait until you get at Camp Humphreys before you purchase your phone, do not purchase it in yongsan. The phone company that is in the PX, in the rear of the store is awesome. You can order your phone, internet, receive a stateside phone number to make and receive calls back to the states for an amazing price....The daycare varies as far as space. You really won’t be able to have an accurate prediction about if it’s available or how long the wait list is until you arrive.

I hope I’ve given you enough information to get started.

Try to get reservations at the base Guest House. You'll have to sign up for the other things you mentioned. This is what I tell anyone I know that has orders for the RoK, "Go into the assignment with an open mind. If you go thinking it's going to suck you will have a bad tour.". There are a lot of cool things you can see and learn while you there if you just put an effort into it.

We are both excited to be going. My wife is the active duty soldier. I ETS'd in 2012 and she joined in 2017. I believe it will be a fun experience. Thank you very much for the advice.

Do your HW on whether s/he REALLY wants to go. When I was there, I ended up being the NEO rep for the BN (about 1000 pax). The training they gave us and how we had to spin it to the dependents was a little worrisome for me. I can't go into it on here, but if you want details, look me up in the global. If I was married, I would not want my spouse there. With KJU starting things back up, things might heat up again, especially with the election around the corner.
