Do Privates in Infantry training get their phones on weekend passes?

Dang. My brother and his buddies were under the impression they would be given weekend passes if they earned them.

Kayleigh Abbott maybe at the end. It’s been quite a few years since I went to basic training but I’m pretty sure they don’t give passes to OSUT soldiers as a matter of policy.

Thank you for your response! That’s what I have been hearing sadly. So, if my brother got a weekend pass you don’t think they would allow him to have his phone?

It’s possible but the chances seem like they’d be slim. It’s hard to tell because there are so many training companies and some may differ. Some guys are lucky enough to get their phone for a hour on Sunday and others might only ever see their phone at the beginning of a phase to call family for few minutes.

Kayleigh Abbott - Not having a phone is something both the SM and family should get used to. The 82's QRF that went to the Middle East earlier this month was not allowed them and many places overseas in combat zones you will have limited phones.

Thank you for the consideration though. My brother just started Black phase Tuesday and I was wondering if I would hear from him anytime soon. From what I have been hearing though, he will only get to call at the end of each phase.

Kayleigh Abbott - They did have phones (picture a payphone) available in my day - the lines were long and you had only so much time to make your calls then the next guy took over.

I must have been in a hardcore Battalion, we never got an off post pass period. We thought we were damn lucky if they let us have a half day out of the Company Area.
I heard that training just went to hell when they closed Harmony Church :^).
