While this is relatively old news, article was published about 6 months ago, it shows that military service is one of the most respected institutions in the United States. It also shows the last decade as representing an all-time high for those in uniform.<div>Having served, what do you think?</div><div>http://www.gallup.com/poll/1597/confidence-institutions.aspx <br></div><div class="pta-link-card"><div class="pta-link-card-picture"><img src="http://wsdc.gallup.com/dcsdh1hzt5k8osnaj9x0uqyt0_9i8v/njs.gif?dcsuri=/nojavascript&WT.js=No&WT.tv=8.0.3"></div><div class="pta-link-card-content"><div class="pta-link-card-title"><a target="_blank" href="http://www.gallup.com/poll/1597/confidence-institutions.aspx">Confidence in Institutions | Gallup Historical Trends</a></div><div class="pta-link-card-description">Now I am going to read you a list of institutions in American society. CW2 Evans, I've seen the poll before and I think the results are great! I think the reason for the results relates to the high emphasis we place on ethics in the military. Each branch of the military has core values based on honor, duty, integrity, selfless service, commitment, etc. I think respect is derived directly from trust and it seems clear to me that the American people have a tremendous amount of trust for our military. Personally, it makes me proud and comitted to uphold that trust. I think that the fact that the military is a voluntary force and that every single one of us takes an oath to defend the Constitution and the United States speaks to our commitment and further engenders the trust of the people we defend. With the ethical violations that have been so prominent in the media lately, I hope we as an institution can better ourselves and keep those few "bad apples" from ruining the reputation we have collectively built.
