Franchises are a great transition option for those who want the lifestyle of a business owner, the financial independence, support, training, and structured business package. Finding one is tricky and problematic because everyone tries to compare the wrong information and finding the right info is time consuming and difficult. What franchises have you found and what has gotten you held up in exploration process? If your answer is money, what are the further steps you've taken?

The franchise that I am a part was was recommended to me by a friend that had already franchised into another company but searching for a franchise can be a lot easier than it seems. One way is to look at the Forbes magazine. Every year they put out a list of the top franchises as well as the top growing franchises. At the education office on base you can get a pamphlet that lists all the veteran friendly franchises, which are 100s.
As far as financing goes you can do a VA business loan or the SBA patriot loan. You can find investors or get with a finance institute to fix your credit and just open up lines of credit against you business. Those are just few finance opportunitie. I'm pretty sure there are plenty mor.

There are special funds set aside for states to help veterans with business endeavors. If one is having difficulty, may I suggest looking at the Small Business Administration's web site for state operated business for example, http://www.sbtdc.org/programs/ptac/ is one location in NC to start.
North Carolina's Procurement Technical Assistance Center (NC PTAC) | Your business. Better.
The SBTDC's PTAC is a team of experienced business counselors who educate business associates on how to obtain contracts by providing comprehensive assistance in selling products and services to local, state and federal government agencies.

Thanks for the vote up. In reviewing what I wrote, I see my fingers didn't type as fast as I was thinking. What needed to be added is ...web site for state operated business "assistant centers".....
