For those of us who have acquired more than one rank, which of those ranks were the hardest and the easiest to achieve? Easiest for me: E-1. Hardest for me: E-4.

The hardest was E4...I never got there. The easiest was E2, Got there, twice. 1, 2, 3, waiting on paperwork for 4, busted back to 2....Crap Occurs

E2. Finally! I was not a natural Marine. Then I was the E2 with longest time in grade in Vietnam. I finally promoted myself to Lance Corporal (that's E3 to you army). The Top didn't care he was running out of E3s. The easiest promotion was E5 in 30 months. My MOS was still O3 ( that's grunt in Army) but working as Military Police at Marine Supply base in Barstow, Calif. They offered me E6 and military police MOS to ship over at 36 months.

Staff Sergeant was the hardest for me. I was moving around from State to State and each time I was given a speech about I had to start all over because I am "The New Guy". I am National Guard. SFC was the easiest because I was on active duty and I was stable and able to just do what I do.
