Can I call branch to get orders while in training?

Im considered "Prior Service" here at Benning waiting to get inserted into osut so im not exactly "training" yet. I've been told i could call branch and get orders and I've been told opposite as well. Is it possible to call branch and get orders before i start infantry school or do i have to wait until im training with whatever company i get inserted into ?

Yes you can, but IET Soldiers are usually placed on assignment by the IET and Accession branch. Call sooner than later because once you are placed on assignment instructions your branch won't entertain changing them

so in my situation i can technically call as of now ? im trying to get orders to bragg or stewart

SGT (Join to see) yeah, you're not going to get in any trouble for calling branch. So give it a shot

The CMF 11 manager at Brigade gets those assignments about 3-5 weeks prior to the cycle grad date.

should i wait to get to training first then? i want to go airborne so idk how to go about this

SGT (Join to see) after you get to your Company talk to your Drills. Trainees are losing Airborne options all the time from Article 15s. There is a chance you may be able to snag one that gets forfeited. Until you are MOS qualified, Branch will not be able to help you though.

SGT (Join to see) Unless the SOP has changed, you should be taken over to the Brigade Headquarters building on the day you are inserted into your training cycle. You will meet with the CMF 11 Manager and have your training records reviewed. It is the office directly to your 12 o’clock coming in the double doors from the rear of the building. This would be a good opportunity to field those questions as well.
