What are you doing to improve Unit Training Management?

Over the last two years I have been reminded that unit training management (UTM)(amongst other things) is balanced by science and art. Too many of our Leaders lack the experience to effectively mentor their subordinates in a skill that we haven't practiced much in more than a decade. That (in the Army) if you entered service after 2000 or so, then your grasp of UTM and those around you is probably a hindrance or "this is the way we have always done it attitude" that prevents successfully planning, preparing, executing, and assessing yourself and your Soldiers. This is largely due to how we returned to set training plans to rapidly deploy again. However, that is no longer the case and we have to do it for ourselves and our Soldiers. Recently, key identifiers have pointed out this fact - BN and Company Commanders not knowing what manual guides training meetings nor what a T&EO is and how to use / read one or where to find them. NCOs of all ranks are not immune to this either. Board questions are focused on grooming standards more than training standards.
