Will the Army only pay for travel from duty station to duty station, or can I go home and have the Army pay from there to my next station?

I'm PCSing from Hawaii to Fort Drum. Can I take leave to go back home (NC), and then leave from there to head to my duty station (NY), rather than having to come all the way back to my current duty station (Hawaii)?

You can actually arrange this by going to the travel office. You will be responsible for the price of the ticket changer service fee, plus any increase in the price of the total ticket. Also, if you fail to catch your flight from your leave location you will be responsible for the price of your own flight to your duty station.
I did the same thing flying from Bragg to Okinawa, it cost me an extra $30

Ok, I think you have left out a lot of information from your question. Are you currently Stationed in Hawaii? Going to Ft Drum? Vice Versa? What are you trying to do? School in route? Of course the Army will only pay for you to go from one duty station to another. You dont get any free vacations in between courtesy of the Army. But i think you need to be more specific with your question and give a little more background than what you have provided in order for anyone to even begin to give you advice on your situation.

SGT (Join to see) - Yes of course you can take leave in between, but the question was just worded in a weird way. This is all covered in your levy brief, and when you are scheduling your move. SFC Boyd is right, you will just be responsible for any difference in prices from wherever home is and Ft Drum, no need to go all the way back to Hawaii, although you have to keep in mind your DEROS date as well. You wont be able to leave until your DEROS. Levy brief will answer all of these questions for you. Good luck. And word your questions more clearly next time, so we do not have to read between the lines. haha
