Why does the Army insist on adding "Army" to the name of uniforms and equipment?

Army Service Uniform (ASU), Army Combat Uniform (ACU), Army Combat Shirt (ACS), Army Combat Pants (ACP), Army Aircrew Combat Uniform (A2CU), Army Combat Helmet (ACH), Army Combat Boots (ACB), Army Combat Gloves (ACG), Army Mountaineering Kit (AMK), Army Physical Fitness Uniform (APFU), Army Physical Fitness Test (APFT), Army Body Composition Program (ABCP), Army Substance Abuse Program (ASAP), Army Continuing Education System (ACES), Army Specialized Training Program (ASTP), Army Battle Command System (ABCS), Army Career and Alumni Program (ACAP), Army Wounded Warrior Program (AW2), Army Readiness Management System (ARMS), etc, etc, Army etc... We're proud to be the Army?
Or, maybe we think it's funny that everyone but the Marines are wearing our uniforms and want to be sure they know it?
Maybe it's a copyright thing?
Maybe you have too much time on your hands lol.

CSM - TOO much time on our hands sounds about right to me... And when are we going to loose the safety reflector belts?

For the same reason everything a Marine owns has an EGA on it.
Boots, check.
pants, check.
Belt, check
Blouse, check
Cover, check.

Trivia factoid: FMF Navy Corpsmen commonly need to wear more EGAs than the Marines do.

Because we love the Army, love to say Army, and it is bonus when we can get a Sailor to say Army. Probably also to ensure we only wear Army stuff and not lesser quality Navy, Air Force and Marine gear.

Sir, I was laughing at your first sentence but I have to fire back for the second. Admittedly the Army spends lots of money to equip lots of Soldiers with some really cool toys but I would argue that, depending on the gear we're talking about, the Marines have some top quality stuff far better that what the Army is fielding.
For example, the issued Marine boots are much better than the issued Army boots. Items like the Marines' new pack, sleep system, and water proof compression sacks are all better than what Soldiers are issued. I would also argue that the Army Combat Uniform Pattern (ACUPAT, aka UCP) is probably the worst tactical camo pattern in service. (No, the Navy's NWU Type I blueberries is not a tactical uniform. It's a working uniform. The NWU Type II and Type III are the Navy's tactical uniforms)

CPO (Join to see) I was joking and I agree. The ACU is great and functional uniform, but it is a bad color.
