I need this cleared up. I’m single and enlisted in the national guard. I’ve owned my own home the last four years. The recruiter told me that While at basic and AIT I will get BAH since I own the home But at a single persons rate which is less. My question is. I will get BAH right?

I have only dealt with this issue once with PVTs who have come through BCT. So it only applies mostly to NG and Reserves. Our National Guard Liaison helped the PVTs a lot during their time here. Yes, you may still be able to get your BAH even if you are single but I guess for the NG and Reserve y’all have to provide the lease to finance. If all your paperwork was submitted properly before you go to BCT/OSUT then you will be good to go. If not then we’ll looks like to you need to bring it up to the Liaison as soon as possible. Best of luck.

When I enlisted for NG I was able to get BAH by providing a copy of my lease. Because you are NG once you finish training you have to have a home to return to unlike active duty who will go to a base and be provided with somewhere to stay. Make sure you provide all the documents to your recruiter AND take a certified copy with you to BCT.
