Can I close out a DITY move without signing into my next duty station?

I am reclassing in February. I am taking PCS leave from 27 of January until my report date to AIT on 21 February. During that time, I am moving my household goods to my follow on assignment to Fort Carson. Will I be able to turn in my PPM packet to the transportation office at Fort Carson before signing in or will I have to hang on to it and turn it in on my report date which is 20 Aug? I’m going TDY en route.

No you can't, finalling your travel is part of your finance inbrief. It all goes on your GTC and you should be doing partial vouchers every 30 days if your school is over 45 days long

Can you give me a more descriptive explanation? My school is 16 weeks. So how would this work?

SGT(P) (Join to see) that's literally as descriptive as it is. You take your stuff and move it using your GTC to pay for it. You file a partial voucher every 30 days as required by regulation. You file your final finance voucher on the end side and your transportation voucher when you resch your destination

I guess I was just misunderstanding your response because I am half asleep reading it right now. Thanks, I’ll keep that in mind! SFC (Join to see)

Did you ask your question at your LEVI briefing?
Also, I’ll be heaitant on moving the family until you complete your training since your follow on assignament is not 100% guaranteed. Then you’ll be stucked with an already HHG move, meaning you’ll be on the hook for the next one on your dime - if it ends that way. Remember, Murphy’s Laws are always there.
Best of luck on your future endeavors!

I already have my orders cut, and I have 50 days until I leave so I won’t go to my brief until like 20 days out. I asked transportation, and they said the worst they can say is hold on to them until I sign in. I was just seeing if anyone has been in this position before that had any insight.
