Favorite celebrities that are former service members?
Colonel Klink on the old series Hogan's Heroes was actually an impresario. In spite of being shown as a boob and a clutz, he is a man who actually quite brilliant.
Are there any actors or other celebrities that you who have been former service. Like Jimmy Stewart was a General, in the Reserve I believe.
I found a few that might be a surprise to many:
Bea Arthur-actress was SSG in the Marines during WWII
Hugh Hefner-was a clerk in the Army during WWII
Chuck Norris-even though he always portrayed Army and Delta Force characters in his movies, he was actually an AF Policeman while in service in the late 50s
Johnny Carson-was in the Navy as a communications officer in WWII
Bill Cosby-was a hospital corpsman for the Navy in the late 50s
Ice-T-rapper/actor served a 4 year stint in the Army during the 80s
Mr. T-was an MP in the Army in the mid 70s
Clint Eastwood-was in the Army in the early 50s
Jimi Hendrix-was a paratrooper for the 101st in the early 60s
Mel Brooks-defused land mines during WWII in the Army
Pat Sajak-was a DJ for Armed Forces Radio and the Army in Vietnam
Alan Alda-most famous as Hawkeye on MASH was a LT in the Army Reserves in the 60s
Henry Fonda-was in the Navy during WWII
Clark Gable-was a flight instructor for the AF during WWII
Ted Williams-BB player was a pilot for the Marines in WWII and Korea
Ronald Reagan-was in the ArmyAirForces during WWII
These are just a few famous and probable unknown services performed in their time, there are many more but I just hit on these as a good conversation starter.
