Completely agree and understand that. My point only is that I see a lot of questions here that I wish soldiers would take the initiative themselves to find answers to. Might just be a sign that I’m becoming one of those old vets that just dosn’t understand this new generation MAJ Javier Rivera

SGT Adam Boyle It’s not the end all be all, but asking a question doesn’t hurt. I really hated “leadership” that discouraged soldiers to ask questions. Work smarter, not harder.

I agree SPC Zach Lockhart. You should never be discouraged from asking questions, and that was not my intent by what I said. My encouragement for soldiers like yourself is always to help you prepare to be a leader. As a leader, it is not to know all the answers, but at least how to find them. And if you have the resources available (AR’s, FM’s, etc) than you should know how to find those. This will be especially helpful for your promotion board (as an E-4 I’m assuming that’s in your radar).
Only trying to help, and wish you the best.

Yes, when you’re an NCO you’ll have shoulder boards. Until then you wear the brass with your dress blues. Only thing you don’t wear I’m assuming for a ball you’re going to is your DUIs

Lol does that mean you don’t plan on being one? I agree but typically you won’t be able to see the brass anyway SPC Zach Lockhart

Yeah, I’ve been out for three years. My best friend getting married is an LT and he’s doing a military wedding. All the groomsmen will be in uniform and we figured the best man should pull his out of the closet as well.

SPC Zach Lockhart - You should read about wearing the uniform when out of the military but not retired. I am not entirely certain it will be appropriate for you to wear an old uniform when not retired and not currently serving.

MAJ Byron Oyler It’s my best friend’s wedding -nobody cares. Second, I’m a civilian and I could wear a Silver Star if I really wanted to be an a$$. And third, all honorably discharged veterans who served during time of war can wear service uniforms to funerals, weddings, parades, and ceremonies IAW AR 670-1.

My counter questions:
- Did you ask your TL?
- Did you look in the Reg?
If the answers to those are no, that should have been your first step before posting to here...

No and yes. The regs don’t specify this exact scenario (from what I can find).
