All really depends on which Troop you get sent to in 1/11. I can tell you from experience that you will need to dress seriously warm as it gets damn cold at Irwin in the winter.....especially at night when out in the field. Naturally, it is going to be uber hot in the summer. IMO, it was the best assignment I had in my career. 11th ACR has an extremely rich and proud history. Make the most of your time there. You are but a few hours drive in any direction to all kinds of fun stuff. ALLONS!!

SPC (Join to see) - And as soon as you can, get on the Spur Ride the 11th ACR holds. If you complete the course, you get presented your Silver Spurs and get the honor of wearing a Stetson/Cav Hat during official ceremonies. That is the only regret I have from my time at Irwin...I never got to go on a Ride.

Contact the Ft Carson SORB when you get tired of the middle of nowhere and endless rotations. SORB can get you out of there after only 1 year time on station.

Is just projections on my SRB so far SFC. However, i did complete the form 5434 on the Army Career Tracker. What are the chances of my duty station changing ?

SPC (Join to see) - The chance is always there....ask me how I know. But with your sponsorship paperwork filled out you SHOULD be safe from changes, they can still change em - it is the Army, but you are likely set with Irwin. As for which unit in 11 ACR, that can change once you are in Replacement, typically HRC can only assign to a Brigade/Regiment size element, then that replacement and/or S1 does the assignments to Squadrons, the Squadron assigns to Troop, the Troop assigns to Platoon, etc..
Example, I was assigned to the 2nd Cavalry Regiment when I arrived in Germany (they changed my orders from 1/1 Cav when I arrived), 2CR assigned me to 4th Squadron, 4th Squadron put me in Palehorse Troop, P troop put me in White Platoon.

Fort Irwin is a demanding place for all units across the station. You will be busy, and will go to the field occasionally. I'm the supply sergeant over at 2TC, 1916th SB. Hit me up if you need anything, I'm sure we'll have some transactions (L/T) to deal with eventually. [login to see]
