Outside on a nice cool day at a range puts everything into perspective. So grateful for all that I have - especially my friends. Part of that gratitude is for the places we hang out. For me one of my favorite spots to shoot is Buffalo Shooting Park in Ottawa, IL. Its about an hour drive from my home through rural Illinois farmland. They have a nice set-up with a 50yd, 100yd, and Pistol ranges. A pit where anything goes, traps and even a 22 range for the kids. All day for $30 - as well they have a great selection of classic as well the latest firearms you can rent (M1). They even play the national anthem at noon. However what makes this place great is its just a great place to hang out with friends - you can bring coolers, take pics and there's a grill on-site that makes a mean hamburger.

New shotgun - Stoeger MK3 Freedom.

My favorite hobbie going to the range at least once a week to keep up shooting eye, as age comes it's important to keep yourself fit.

I can relate. It’s sad that 40 years ago I could qualify on iron sights and now I have to rely on optics to get a good result. But I enjoy my time at the range and my skills are still good considering the adjustments.

I'm still on iron sights with my .45 Colt, and went to a scope a long time ago for distance, age tells on you.

My lower property for short range testing post work, shot gun patterning, ect.
A local range Texas star shooting range for pistol paper and steel, shotgun, rifle short and medium range plus a tactical range bay, and a privet range only open to a few that I can shoot to most of a mile (no I did not say hit, well sometimes)

I understand the desire to hit a mile shot. I have a friend outside of New Orleans who was a sniper and owns a Barrett. Its still on my list to hit a mile - going to "try" again next year.
