I'm considering becoming a Drill Sergeant. Do you get to pick between being a Drill Sergeant for Basic Training or Drill Sergeant for AIT?

Nope... If you're in the top 20% of your class, you go to an OSUT. If you are in the bottom 10% of your class, you go to FT Jackson (at least according to my Drill Sergeant friends ;o) )

Thats not how it works.... you have a follow on assignment before you attend the academy. However if you are not Infantry it is unlikely that you will go to Benning.

Depends on what you want out of like and your career...I would say go Drill but its a ball buster. If you can define your goals or expectations maybe I could help you at least from my point of view.

WO1 (Join to see) you may want to reach out to your branch manager and drill sergeant branch, but typically, we don’t pick. You may be able to switch with another candidate as you approach graduation and share the same MOS, report timeframe, gender, and rank.
