Age does not matter if the individual has the strength and determination. I also think that you would have to look at the remaining retention time the Soldier has in the Army. No need to waste the taxpayers money on a Soldier to attend Ranger School if he or she will retire in a few years.

Concur. Going to Ranger school goes beyond just being able to physically hack it. Is there a need for this person to go, or is it just a "bucket list" thing for him.

MSG (Join to see), 42 is certainly not too old to go through Ranger School. As a matter of fact, CPT (Join to see) went through last year at the age of 78. ;-)

LT Michael Scott, I was only kidding. CPT (Join to see) is not 78 years old. He was one of only three Lieutentants that were older than me at IBOLC in 2013, and he went to Ranger School after that, so I joke with him about his age.

I will say that it was that much more challenging but when it came to OPODRs I was worth my age in bars of gold.

I hope not, since I am 40 and thinking about submitting a packet to go work at a Ranger Bat, and my understanding is that if I get the job, I will attend Ranger School too

You will have to attend as a condition of working there.
Be aware there are very few Officer and Senior NCO slots

LTC (Join to see) - I thought that they sent certain categories of officers through the Officer version of RASP, so they get Scrolled instead of Tabbed. Not any easier, just not as long.
