So I checked my les and apparently I owe roughly 670 dollars. The only explanation I have for this is that I graduated basic on the 3rd of May and received pay on the 15th, but my understanding of military pay is that you are technically paid once a month but the military breaks it down into two payments so I’m pretty sure I’m owed that payment. After that last payment I didn’t receive a payment for anything remotely close to that so I’m not sure why I owe money. Does anyone have any experience with this?

SPC (Join to see) Did you take any advance pay? You also would only get paid for 1-3 May. DFAS could have over paid you for 1-15 May. You need to talk to DFAS, or your S1 if you are able, to see why you have a debt.

If you graduated on the 3rd of May and left, you are only authorized pay up to the 3rd because your training was complete and you returned back to your residence. You wouldn’t be entitled to pay from 4-15 May, so that may explain the debt. You should have received an LES the end of May explaining your pay and any debt you may have received.

If you are still active duty, you should be able to go to your finance office to find out why you have the debt.

You can call dfas and speak to them if you are not active duty. If they can’t help you then your unit S1 can help.
